Firefighters rush to the scene of plane crash that sent smoke billowing into the sky above the Grand Junction Regional Airport this afternoon.

But it was just a drill for rescue workers, the mock scenario gives them a chance to practice skills for when the real thing does happen.

According to airport officials a plane donated from the Colorado Flight Center, complete with three actors and a smoke machine, helped to make the scene appear as real as possible.

Fire officials say being able to do these large-scale training operations at the airport keeps firefighters on their toes, and ready for when a real call does come in.
