Dozens of people show up to learn the fate of a proposed community corrections facility in Olathe Monday night.
The meeting was so large it was moved from the city hall to the Olathe Middle School Gym. The debate went on for hours and in the end city leaders voted 5-2 against allowing the proposed facility there.
The vote comes after months of public comment on the issue.
Corrections officials argued the new facility could have provided jobs in the community while residents worried about their safety
Olathe city officials say they are happy with the amount of public comment both for and against the proposal.
