Phase two of Grand Junction’s Downtown Uplift is right around the corner, and Mayor Teresa Coons said she can’t wait.

Mayor Coons and other city council members met with the Downtown Development Authority Monday to discuss the second phase of the Main Street project.  Organizers say the “uplift” will look very similar to phase one in terms of timing and look.

“We’re hoping it brings something unique to every block of downtown and helps people want to stay downtown, and hopefully shops and eat and spend time down there,” Downtown Development Authority director Heidi Hoffman Ham said.

The project will cost around $5.8 million.  Phase two of the Downtown Uplift is scheduled to start January 3 and finish before the Farmer’s Market.
