Grand Junction, Colo.
Homeless Veterans in the Grand Valley may be one step closer to having a roof over their head, if City Council Members move to pass a re-zoning ordinance.
The Grand Junction Catholic Outreach program previously applied for a multi-family development building for homeless Vets.
The building would have twenty-four one bedroom units located at the corner of Pitkin Avenue and South 3rd Street.
Right now the zoning codes for the vacant lot only include commercial business property, not residential.
The area needs to be re-zoned as a residential lot before the multi-family building can be built.
If the re-zoning passes, the organization will start construction plans.
“The Grand Valley Catholic Outreach will submit a site plan review application that will be submitted sometime this fall or early winter. That will go through a review process and hopefully sometime this spring we’ll see construction begin for the multi-family housing project,” Grand Junction Senior Planner, Scott Peterson said.
A public hearing and consideration of the re-zoning design will take place tonight at Seven at the Grand Junction City Council Meeting.
